Assignment #8
I chose to write about "Free speech off campus must be protected". It was about a student who was called to the student conduct board because of a series of Facebook postings. I believe her acts were not serious enough to call her Minnesota Supreme Court. She posted the thoughts on her personal Facebook account. If anyone got offended by what she was posting they should've just deleted her as a friend. I don't think her post were a serious threat to harm anyone. The college just blew the whole situation out of proportion to teach the whole student body a lesson. They took one harmless student and punished her actions to teach every other student to watch what they post on social networking sites. School and personal life are two different worlds, and she should not be punished in school for a action she did in her personal life. I agree that if she posted threats to another student in a school organization or network then she should be punished. Her personal life should be protected, and not be punishable by her school. It was a personal inside joke she shared with friends. If the person that reported her to the university was offended by the post then they shouldn't have a Facebook at all because Facebook has a lot of offensive post. I believe she should not be punished so extremely because it was a personal post and was not directed to the university.
Assignment #7
Yes I feel I am making progress on my goal for this class. My goal was to be overall a better writer, and I feel I am making progress. I have learned to better structure my sentences and paragraphs. Also how to better organize my paper. I also learned how to identify a thesis, and also create my own thesis easier.
One aspect of writing that has been particularly helpful to me is peer review. Before this semester I thought peer review was pretty pointless. I felt as it didn't help my writing at all, and was a waste of time. Throughout this semester I have learned peer review is a great process that can better your paper and you as a writer.
No, we are given papers to write on specific topics, and we do work in between our writing process too. After given our topics to write our papers on we do in class work related to the topics. The in class work helps get a better understanding of what we our writing on and prepares us for our writing process.
My writing process has pretty much stayed the same throughout the semester. The biggest difference would have to be the way I review my paper after I am done typing. I look over my paper more carefully, and now I am open to peer review. The biggest change in my writing would be a new post writing process.
Yes I think my writing skills have improved throughout this semester. I think I structure my sentences better, and also have better structured paragraphs. Also I revise my paper better to get a better final end result.

Assignment #6
Purpose
Compare: The purpose of both is to attract the reader and draw them into your paper while they are reading.
Contrast: The purpose of a literacy narrative is to tell a story, and the purpose of the ad analysis is to give your opinion on what the ad means to you.
Audience
Compare: For both the audience could be anyone
Contrast: for the literacy narrative the audience could be anyone, but for the ad analysis the ad can relate to a certain audience such as kids, adults, etc.
Tone
Compare: Both types of papers can vary in tones
Contrast: The tone of an ad analysis is a lot easier to identify, and it can be a lot more serious or very playful

Assignment #4
My final paper looks different from my rough draft because it is free from spelling errors, it is grammatically correct, and it is more organized. I did not make a major revision to the content of my paper. I believe the content was good, and was indeed a literacy narrative. I made a slight revision with the organization of my final paper. I also made revision to the focus of my final paper. I added more details into my final paper so the reader can visualize my story better.
After revising my paper I identified that I seem to have typos. When typing a paper I seem to type fast without reading every word while i'm typing so I seem to create many typos. I also seem to be a bit wordy and include unnecessary words. After rereading and reviewing my paper I am able to identify most mistakes I make.

Peer review is always a good method of finding mistakes and making revisions. It gives you another person opinions, and the readers perspective.
